A Texas flood disaster in Medina County left one man dead Clyde Jones about 52 a Bexar County Hospital employee after his car was swept from a bridge into San Geronimo Creek near Rio Medina. Rains up to eight inches caused Verde and Hondo Creeks to rise prompting multiple rescues by Ft. Sam Houston and Brooke Army Medical Center helicopters.

The Pecos Barstow Consolidated Independent School District adopted a 4.95 million dollar budget for 1971 72 with allocations for administration instruction attendance health services pupil transportation operation and maintenance fixed charges and debt service.
