Young Bell and B T Biggs were elected to Pecos city council in Tuesday's election, replacing Harry Hinkle and Dr C J Magee who did not run. 335 votes were cast with Bell 253 and Biggs 196, Floyd Brownlee 107, 430 poll taxes paid, council set to meet next Tuesday. mayor B A Toliver, councilors Biggs Bell Hubbs Howard Breen. presiding judge C K McKnight. clerks Mrs Poss Johnson and Mrs Fulgim.
A destitute Mexican woman, living on charity for years, reported $700 stolen from her home in the Mexican section. Authorities skeptical at first, later learned she possessed old currency including 1898 one dollar bills and silver dollars. Thieves reportedly cut a heavy chain from an old trunk but did not touch other belongings.
Pecos may secure a flying school with a permanent hangar as the airport site attracts interest from aviator Ray Baumgartner of Fort Stockton and insurance man Jo Camp. J B Cashell, distributor for Crystal gasoline and West Texas Refining Co products, transfers to Longview Texas where he will hold a similar position. The Cashells leave Saturday after five years in town. J B Heard, former Magnolia agent in Pecos, named Cashell successor.
A pack of coyotes appears at Balmorhea as a mad wolf is killed by Mexican workers on the Madera Springs road this week. The animal, frothing at the mouth, pursued the workers before the fatal encounter ended the pursuit.
The Pecos Little Theater schedules the one act play Suppressed Desire at the Grand Theater Friday night. Cast includes Mrs. William Kerr Mrs. Ronald Roberson and Dick Toll. The production is in addition to the regular Grand program.
Homer Stuart formerly with the Enterprise forces drives into the Big Bend country to study Texas in the raw and to write. He aims to spend time observing the region and reporting on its character and scenery.
Naval officers in Washington consider wind damage near Pecos a year earlier as a possible cause of the Akron dirigible disaster. The airship met a fierce storm off New Jersey, nose-dived from about 300 feet, and sank with 74 lives lost after ballast was dumped. Two nearby rescue blimps also perished in Jersey waters.
Bob Coffey and Attorney Rowen Hudson announce the purchase and reopening of the former Texas Station No. 1 at Third and Cypress as Pecos Magnolia Service Station. New Magnolia pumps, products, and fresh paint mark the upgrade. Station managers include Perry Colwell Jim Goans and R G Dooley.
Death toll reports 32 year old Josef T. Allen of Pecos who had lived here several years and served in the United States Army Air Corps at the time of his death in Dallas last week. An airplane circled the grave scattering flowers over his burial.
Dave Sudderth, former Pecos resident and manager of Corner Drug Store in Monahans, has been elected to the Monahans school board. He is married to a Pecos woman and recently became a father.
County Attorney Dick Toll warns parents in the southe western town area to caution children against picking up any edible items found outdoors after four dogs died from poisoned meat. He warns a grand jury will investigate and promises vigorous prosecution of culprits.

The Eighth Court of Civil Appeals in El Paso dissolved the injunction on Blackies Place at Monahans. District Attorney William I Kerr had obtained the injunction in 109th district court claiming the establishment was a nuisance and sold liquor. His appeal cites a change in public opinion making liquor convictions by jury unlikely.
M C Teague serving 16 year term for the Kitty Gordon slaying filed with Abilene county clerk a notice of intention to marry Annie Marie Reynolds of Wink. Teague, age 35, is jailed in Abilene since last September. Reynolds attended the trial and has visited him in jail. Attorneys plan a rehearing request.
In the school trustee election held last Saturday Floyd Brownlee and Albert Sisk were re elected to the board. Brownlee received 36 votes and Sisk 42 with several write ins. Both incumbents lead among the candidates and presiding judge W. F. Alexander assisted by Velma Turner and C. K. McKnight.
The Southern Union Gas Co. is conducting its annual survey of city mains and lines to detect leaks and weak sections to be repaired in the warm weather season. The work has required two additional workers to be hired.
Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, head of organized baseball, stayed Thursday night at Hotel Brandon after driving extra miles to Pecos. He said he was impressed with the town and was en route to Chicago to begin coordinating the major league teams.
J. W. Chism, a prominent Oklahoma evangelist, was seriously ill during a revival at the Church of Christ. His daughter Miss Nell Chism, who teaches at Pecos High, escorted him to Dallas on Wednesday for an operation.
