Council approves Main Street walkway and town hires staff
The Town Council at its regular meeting authorized a 8 to 12 foot wide granite surfaced walkway along Main Street from the Payton Auto Clinic to Julia Randall Elementary School with crosswalks at intersections. The council hired Robert Linker laborer William Ingram Jr accounting clerk and Charles Jacobs Fire Marshal and Safety Inspector. They will re advertise for a part time custodian. Funding comes from the Central Arizona Association of Governments through June 30 1976. Glen Jamison Construction bid 4087 for a 10 by 24 foot portable building at the new Town Hall site. Unsuccessful bids were 5210.74 and 4985. A used 1954 water truck from John S Bradley Sons bid 5000 with 4000 gallon capacity was accepted with 10000 budgeted. Ordinance 22 addresses safety related building.

Supreme Court upholds Allen voluntary manslaughter conviction
The Arizona Supreme Court refused to reconsider its prior ruling upholding Thomas A. Allen of Phoenix in a voluntary manslaughter case and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Allen was convicted May 31 for the February 1 stabbing death of William Price in Payson. The court found Judge Greer abused discretion in overturning the jury verdict and Allen awaits sentencing within a month.
