Payson Hospital plans 13.5 percent rate increase
A public hearing Friday at 10 30 a m will review Payson Hospital’s request to raise rates by 13 5 percent, aiming to boost annual revenues by about 139000. The proposal covers room surgery obstetrics emergency X ray and physical therapy charges with specified percentage increases and follows two prior hikes in 1974.

Hurst Tool Housed by Payson Sheriff in Dispute Standoff
Members of the Hurst Rescue Tool Committee surrendered the tool to the Payson Sheriff for temporary housing amid a continuing dispute within the Payson Fire Department. Payson appoints first paid Fire Chief Charles Jacobs
Charles Jacobs, 26, was chosen as the town of Payson’s first full time paid fire chief. He will assume duties immediately after a regular council meeting Monday night. Jacobs has five and a half years in Payson and four and a half years with the volunteer department. He was selected from three applicants by a screening committee including Councilwoman Ele Insche and councilmen Dave Gilbert and John Fletcher. The final decision was announced after an executive session.
