Hearings Set On Redistricting For Gila County Schools
Hearings on a proposed reorganization of school district boundaries will occur Tuesday at 4 30 p m at Pine Elementary and 7 30 p m at the Payson School District administration office. The Gila County school district committee will conduct the meetings with Payson board member Jo Anne Jones. After hearings, recommendations go to the board of supervisors as the plan consolidates Payson two districts into a single legal entity. Jip Verco of Payson helped coordinate mental health services planning with the private non profit guidance clinic operated from Gila General Hospital. The Globe Miami United Fund contributes about eight thousand dollars annually, and patient fees ranging from zero to thirty five dollars per hour fund roughly 20 percent of the clinic’s income. A Payson branch of the Globe clinic was proposed, with regular visits by staff to be arranged. It is estimated that more than ten percent of the national population has a mental disorder, with eighty percent of those affected seeking care.
