Payson confronts recall bids as police plan studied
The Payson Town Council debated a compromise to take over police protection while recall petitions circulated against Vice mayor Dave Marko and Councilman Bob Belk. Belk’s petition was invalidated. Marko’s move aims to hire two town officers and renegotiate the county contract to cut costs and boost town services by 1979 80. Mayor Willard Taylor urged citizens to consider law enforcement issues and opposed recalls to avoid hindering progress.
