Payson Hospital received two grants from the Arizona Department of Public Safety totaling 14733. Hospital administrator Lance Gillham announced the awards on Tuesday. The funds finance emergency department upgrades including heart monitors a defibrillator and training supplies as well as ambulance repairs restoring standby service and expanding coverage.

Sewerage plans to be proposed at Payson board meeting

Payson Public Library has been awarded about $2,000 in state grant funds to support a historical study of the Payson area. A researcher will be chosen to conduct archival work and include tape recordings in the search for local past events.

Three area dumps to close March 31 with transfer stations opening
The Pine Ponderosa and Christopher Creek dumps will close March 31 and transfer stations will operate in Pine Christopher Creek and Gisela immediately after. Greg Stamper operator of Star Valley Landfill says equipment delays caused the Feb 28 deadline slip. Temporary bins will serve for about four months with only private and light commercial dumping until new compactors arrive to allow seven day operation. Residential fees: $1 for up to three 30 gallon containers and 50 cents for each additional. Star Valley landfill hours extend to Saturdays.
