Emotions at Arizona rate hearing over United Utilities rise
The Arizona Corporation Commission opened a Wednesday hearing on United Utilities Water Company proposed permanent rate hike. About 150 people filled Elk's Lodge to hear testimony as commissioners consider the six United Utilities systems in Payson Pine Tonto Creek Roosevelt Colcord Whispering Pines and Flowing Springs. The interim increase began July 29 with funds above normal rates to be impounded until final action.

School Board, Teachers Clash Over Negotiated Pay Rise

Dismissal appeal continues after lengthy testimonies
An appeal hearing for five volunteer fire department members dismissed for alleged failure to obey a direct order began Tuesday and was continued after 34 hours of testimony. The Town Personnel Board heard from Belk Flack and current Chief Jacobs as the case centers on a $5,183.15 Hurst Rescue Tool. Belk led a fund raising committee arguing funds were separate from town control, while the town contends the committee operated under fire department authority. The board will reconvene to hear further witnesses before presenting a recommendation to the Town Clerk and Council.
