Rena Lenhart of Payson modelled a bikini amid a storm Tuesday as seven inches of snow piled up. Yellow Front received the summer stock the same day. Total precipitation for the week reached 1.71 inches, bringing yearly snowfall to 22 inches, near the 25 inch average.
The Payson Town Council voted to rescind a 3 penalty on unlicensed dogs due by January 31, with plans to resume July 1. Officials cited fairness and media outreach as reasons while refunds will be issued to those who paid. The licensing rule requires dogs to be tagged within 30 days of ownership or by four months old.
The Payson area shifts unemployment insurance services from Mesa to the Globe office starting March 19 at 9 30 a m. The Payson Woman's Club donates space, and about 150 people may file claims. Details on dates will be posted at the Woman's Club and Chamber of Commerce. The plan also involves Beeline Highway striping proposals and a sheriff sale for Bonanza Square.
Pine Water Association and Pine Ditch Company filed to transfer water rights with State Land Department Commissioner Andrew Bettwy. They claim rights to Pine Creek granted in 1881 and 1891, with irrigation and domestic use. They seek to change the point of diversion for Pine Creek, a Verde River watershed tributary, currently allocated 102 acre feet for 125.5 acres and 29 acre feet for domestic and stock use.

Payson High School presents a Pompon Review and Jazz Band show at 8 p.m. in the Junior High Gym. The 90 minute program features dancing with hats and canes, strobe and black lights, plus Stage Band performances with 1940s and 1970s tunes. Admission is $1 adults, 50 cents students, 25 cents children.
