Ban Proposed on New Septic Tanks in Vista Subdivision
Payson Sanitary Board moved to ban further septic tank construction in Country Club Vista if the full board approves a pending resolution. Three of five members attended the July 10 session chaired by Dr. Dave Gilbert who urged the Town to deny building permits for such tanks. The resolution had not yet been approved or drafted. the next meeting is set for July 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Highway 87 project to widen bottleneck south of Payson
The Arizona Department of Transportation says a four lane divided roadway will replace a two lane section on Highway 87 near Mount Ord to ease delays for travelers heading to Payson and the White Mountains. Construction begins July 28 with weekday blasting and closures, slated to finish next May or June. The project, worth 6.7 million dollars, is by M. M. Sundt Contracting Co of Tucson and includes drainage for flash floods and a scenic site at Slate Creek.

Payson Town Council approved a new address system recommended by the Master Plan Committee. Beeline Highway becomes the east west division and the 390 foot south half section line defines the north south boundary to align with the new grid as mail delivery begins.

Public hearing on no parking plan for Beeline Highway deferred
Payson council postponed action on a no parking experiment along part of Beeline Highway until July 28 at 8 p m. Administrative Assistant Robert Loder will locate a lost map and draft a revised proposal after opposition from some businessmen and a survey showing majority support in the test area.

Payson District Ranger Tippeconnic to Leave for Apache-Sitgreaves
Payson district ranger Robert Tippeconnic will depart in the last week of the month to become deputy forest supervisor of the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest headquartered in Springerville. He has led the Payson area for two years and says public involvement is important. No replacement for Tippeconnic has been named.

Blood drive hailed successful by local coordinator
Sixty five pints of blood were donated by residents in the third drive by Blood Services of Arizona. Coordinator Pat Guin praised turnout and process. about eight would be donors rejected mainly for low blood pressure, with thirty eight appointments and four no shows. Blood Services plans Payson trips every six months and hopes to start here every four months. They supply nearly 300 pints annually to Payson Hospital.
