He has helped shape planning emergency services budgets and codes since 1973 and will be replaced temporarily by assistant Jack Monschein as interviews for a permanent successor proceed.

Navajo County Hashknife Posse of 20 riders led by Mel Bradshaw will depart Holbrook at 7 a.m. February 1 on a three day relay to Scottsdale. Mail pickups occur at Holbrook Heber Payson Pine Rye and Sunflower with delivery to Scottsdale February 3. Crowds greet riders in Payson while a special Payson Post Office container holds Pony Express mail.

A brief groundbreaking ceremony and luncheon for local, county and state officials mark the start of a new 3000 square foot addition to the Payson County building at 108 W. Main. Manual Silvas, for Gov. Raul Castro, will speak. a $155 000 Four Corners Regional grant funded the project. Haver Construction of Phoenix will build, with completion estimated in four to five months.
