Seventeen local residents have been infected with hepatitis over the last two weeks triggering renewed action by health officials to trace sources and prevent further spread. The report notes the outbreak across multiple neighborhoods and urges precautions and medical testing.
The Arizona Old-time Fiddlers Association sponsors the first Fiddler’s Jamboree at the Tonto Star Theater in Star Valley starting Sunday at 2 p.m. Lyman Keeling of Mesa will be the featured fiddler with a multi-hour set. donations are 1 dollar for adults and 50 cents for children.
The Payson Chamber of Commerce held its annual installation dinner with awards, speeches and oldtime music for nearly 100 attendees. Incoming president Willard Taylor received the gavel from Bob Welker and urged residents to shop locally while outlining goals.
The Payson Roundup and Chamber named Man and Woman of the Year Mayor Ted Pettet and Vertielee Floyd for their town service. Faye Gilbert lauded Pettet’s teaching and coaching work, while Bill Doudna described Floyd’s Bicentennial and community roles. Maurice Giss spoke on the state Bicentennial goals as Payson explores 1976 and beyond. Fiddling by Jay Belt highlighted the evening.
