Portrait Artist Hegdahl Exhibits First Show
Arizona native Miss Hegdahl studied drawing at Arizona State University and life drawing with Haun Woods and Linderman. She drew portraits inspired by novels such as Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee Touch the Earth and American Indian Portraits. Born in Phoenix she taught at Pine and Cashion Schools before this debut show. St Pauls Episcopal Church Ice Cream Social auctions a $700 W. H. Atkins oil painting to benefit the church set for August 17 from 6 to 8 PM.

One Man Show of Indian Portraits at Payson Art Center
Martha Hegdahl will present a solo exhibition of Indian portraits on brown paper at the Payson Art Center starting August 22. The former Pine School teacher began with portraits of her parents as a Christmas gift using brown paper, seeking similar skin tones as in her pencil drawings. She holds a B.A. in education from Arizona State University.

Payson High School opens fall registration August 11 to 15 with specific grade slots. Seniors August 11, juniors August 12, sophomores August 13, freshmen August 14 and 15, from 8 30 a m to 3 p m daily. New Randall Elementary students K through 8 register August 11 to 14. Returning students need not register. School begins August 7.
