Forest Service opens Payson fuelwood permits for personal use
The U S Forest Service in the Payson District of the Tonto National Forest began issuing fuelwood permits for down and dead wood for personal use. Cutting starts around April 8 weather permitting with 250 permits available for alligator juniper on the eastern Payson Ranger District from April 10 to 30.

The Julia Randall Elementary third graders learned the Egg Tree story and showcased hats and snow art.

Kirkpatrick said the Forest Service seeks to void a contract with Arizona Septic and Industrial Control after raw sewage pumped from septic tanks was dumped into the Punkin Center landfill. About 2000 gallons spilled. landfill operator Guy Reid helped cover the mess. previous violation noted in October 1974.
