Departing Boys Given Banquet in Payette County
About one hundred Payette County citizens gathered at the Y M C A bullring to honor the boys leaving for training at Camp Lewis. A dinner featured red white and blue decor with a flag tag on each plate. Speakers praised the boys and war effort while Prof Albert declared Germany must be conquered for America and the world.

Move Payette Post Office to larger central quarters
On June 8 the government lease for the present post office location expires and due to increased business larger quarters are needed. A ten year lease has been entered with N A Jacobsen for the Fruit Growers Bank space. The new post office will be a splendid light filled room, centrally located, with changes to be made on June 8 or soon after.

Fire destroys homes near Payette cannery area
A forenoon fire near the Payette cannery destroyed a widow Mrs Miler’s house and all contents, plus a nearby small house of James Burrs. Fire spread was halted by bucket brigade and the Payette fire company. No insurance on affected properties.
