Irrigation Ditches Claim Two Lives

Two drownings occur near Payette as young children fall into irrigation ditches. Eight mile north of Payette at Deseret stock farm Lewis Egbert aged almost three, found after a two hour search and buried in Salt Lake. Emerson High age one and a half, visiting Payette with his mother, drowned in a sub lateral on the Eby place. body recovered fifty yards from the gate. Funeral plans set for both, with services in Riverside and the Brethren church.

Boise man plans two story brick building in Payette

N G Prescott of Boise visited Payette early this week and contracted for a fine new brick building on his Boise street lots. The two story, thirty by eighty foot structure will have H L Williams as contractor and work will begin immediately. Upon completion the store room will be occupied by D Fifer's Candy Kuicter.

Fruitland Grange Program Set For May 27 1910

Fruitland Grange presents a May 27 1910 program featuring Melodies by Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Spainhower, a biographical sketch of Mark Twain, readings and recitations, a debate on Idaho compulsory school law, violin and organ pieces, orchard irrigation topics, and various contributors from Moorland and nearby areas. Material begins to arrive for Payette project

Eleven cars of steel, one car of switches, and one car of spikes arrive at Payette. Rail spokesman says the Payette Valley Railroad will haul them to New Plymouth to unload in the supply yard for the new extension. Additional shipments are expected daily as construction ramps up toward Emmett. Palace Pharmacy’s sods noted amid the bustle.

Payette Valley Railroad extension to Emmett under way

A mixed crew of Greeks and Austrians will arrive in Payette to lay steel on the Payette Valley Railroad extension from New Plymouth to Emmett. Over a mile of dump is ready, with rails to follow. the line aims to reach Falks Store by July Fourth, weather permitting, and if delays occur, work will resume on the old portion with resurfacing planned this summer.
