Payette baseball club rolled to an 18 to 2 win over Ontario in the season opener at home. Heavy hitting featured by Byrd and La'Mear with Perry also tripling. Brooks added four hits, while Chink Alexander started and Shake finished on the mound. About a thousand gathered as the Payette Band performed, and the team tied a May Day exhibition with Weiser 4 to 4 in an eighth inning rally.

Death of Mr T L Davis in Riverside area

T L Davis aged 59 died at 9 30 Monday morning at his home two miles southwest of town from complications of a broken leg. He married Lucinda Evans, had three children with Amanda Keeler, Delbert Howard Gladys, plus Nellie Henderson reared in the home. Survived by wife, four children from previous marriage, father, four brothers, three sisters. Funeral at Church of the Brethren Wednesday 10 am Rev Metzler officiating, Riverside cemetery. Chamber of Commerce semi monthly meeting Friday May 4 with Ladies Minstrel Show at Emma theatre that evening after a film. attendance urged.

Destruction of 160 Lanterns Haunts Payette Parade Preparations

In Payette, a contemptible act of vandalism struck the lamp lantern project for the orphan parade. During Sunday night, an arson strike at the Central hotel burned at least 150 lanterns crafted by children over several weeks, ruining their awaited event.

Lee Young Pioneer and Veteran Dies in Payette Memorial

Levi Edward Young a Payette pioneer and respected citizen died at his Payette home April 30 1923 after a brief illness He served in the Civil War with the 29th Pennsylvania Infantry and later lived in Pennsylvania Missouri and Kansas He married Christina Asmurset in 1880 and is survived by his wife two sons and a daughter Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev Knight delivering the sermon List of attendees included local residents and families from Garden Valley and Payette prior to interment
