Luckn Bowman and Gladys Wilcox wed at noon Wednesday at 1626 Center Street. Rev MD Reed officiated as friends and relatives celebrated with roses gifts and a wedding feast. Mother Bowman remained ill but well wishes flowed for the couple.

Former Payette UY Returns from China War Service

A former Payette man with the U S Army returns to Payette after eleven years. He served with 1 Co 16th Infantry California and went to China in 1916 to protect American interests during the war. He received a disability discharge and is back in Payette to reunite with old acquaintances. Loyd Levers returns home after nearly two years with the A K I overnight guards, among the original Company 1 members.

Payette Wins Another Baseball Game Over Huntington

Payette defeated Huntington 8 to 5 in nine innings as Shake for Payette fanned ten with no walks. Payette pulled ahead 7 to 3 by the sixth, added a run in the eighth, and maintained the lead amid strong hitting and solid defense. The win marks Payette’s fifth straight victory as the pennant race heats up for the season. Next Sunday they travel to Weiser, with a pending July 4 game against Meridian promising another fast clash.

Ted Driscoll Arrives in Payette After Army Service

Ted Driscoll arrived in Payette on Tuesday afternoon aboard the Pony. He is the same cheerful traveler noted for his lively spirit and recent service in Trance, and locals note he appears to be the best horseman to come along. Mrs Nancy Harris departed Tuesday for a Portland visit expected to last several weeks. The mare Red wing owned by Mrs W B Gilmore, shot in the left hind foot about two weeks ago, is expected to recover with no serious injury. Mrs Gilmore, a horse lover, bought the mare to train this fall and suspects the wound may have been inflicted deliberately.
