Grand Opening of the Pavilion in Payette

The Payette Amusement Co opens the large pavilion on Bennett block with a Wednesday evening event June 18 featuring a northwest orchestra and Clyde Shanks directing. Free dancing and music welcome all, with learning if you do not dance. Lieut. G. W. Rhoads arrives on furlough after overseas service and will return to Ft. Russell. Payette’s baseball team beat Cambridge 10 to 6 in Cambridge. Methodist Church hosts district rally and Epworth League events with plans for Payette Lakes institute in July. Sunday services and county Sunday School convention set for Payette with speakers from nearby towns.

Weiser City Officials Inspect Water Plant in Payette

The mayor and Weiser city council visited Payette last Thursday to inspect the water system, praising water quality, plant construction, and low operating costs. They consider duplicating the plant in Weiser at greater cost and distance.

Carnival Comes to Payette County Fair Grounds

The Rodgers Amusement Co brings a June 17 to 21 carnival with acts like Sherman Gauls Animal Pet Show featuring Big Snake Tropical Animals and Monkeys Big Jim the 27 foot Boa and Annie the 17 foot Python. Other highlights include Doc Slocum’s palace of Allusions Spidoza and Jack a Loo Cow Girls Cabaret a 10,900 dollar Jumping Horse Merry-Go-Round and a Giant Ferris Wheel. The event also promotes a week of wholesome fun at the Christian Church and local Farm Bureau updates on wool, clover, and Junior Farm Bureau plans with a June 28 picnic and a Fourth of July ice cream booth fundraiser.

Lecture at Washoe Promises Readings and Talk

Miss Olive May McCormick of Wichita Kansas will give a lecture on the Challenge of a Big Task and several readings Sunday evening at Washoe at o'clock. Apple growers contract early as buyers flock to Payette Valley with high prices for Jonathan Rome Beauty Winesap Ark Black and Delicious apples. Extra Fancy brings 2.00 and Fancy 1.75 with C grade 1.25 to 1.50. The Payette Valley expects a full crop and widespread prosperity for fruit growers. A Fourth of July Jubilee in Payette promises family fun and attractions from dawn to night.

Idaho Canning Co to Begin Operations This Week

The Idaho Canning Co plans to start operations this coming week with a large quantity of cherries contracted. A heavy season is anticipated as a good average of sweet corn is planted and will be ready when early fruit is canned. Local anglers report 216 trout caught near Pine Creek and Cambridge, with four measuring 12 to 18 inches. Mrs. Howard Snowberger has recovered from surgery and returned home with her husband. City officials continue street and alley cleanup ahead of Chautauqua week. Reverend J K Balou has resigned as probation officer and returned to ministry at Federated Church in Santa Rosa.
