The Payette Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the University Extension Department hosts a movable school with talks on poultry, celery, dairy, and crops. Veterans receive notices for a February 18 church talk by Rev Fail on George Washington, plus a Father and Son banquet on February 19.
The Farmer's Cooperative Creamery at Payette High School hosted its eighth annual meeting with 800 plus stockholders and guests. Highlights included financial reports showing growth since 1916, a tribute to late member Paul Crane, speeches by J H Dayie and A H Mergen, and a prize drawing with twenty gifts.
W. T. Rouse, longtime operator of the Auto Shop in this place, left Saturday for Los Angeles California. An expert in his line he leaves loyal customers with satisfaction and a congenial young man to carry on. He plans to engage in a similar line of work in Los Angeles where opportunities are greater. A long, complimentary obituary notice celebrates Daniel Thible and his wife Mrs. Dibble on their 66th wedding anniversary near Battle Crest on a Washoe farm. Mr. Dibble age about 88 and Mrs. Dibble over 85, both active in daily tasks, with tributes from the local Luther couple who marked their own 66th anniversary last July.
About 20 Knights from Payette attended a Knights of Pythias meeting in Ontario Wednesday where Oregon Grand Chancellor and Grand Keeper of Records and Seals explained Pythian work and gave addresses. The 69th anniversary will be celebrated in Payette with a Page rank conferral and a Southwestern Idaho district convention planned for Payette by March.
Lovina daughter of C. co. Warden of Payette married Lloyd G. Forbes eldest son of B. G. Forbes of Payette in Tacoma Washington on February 3. Lloyd served in Battery C Artillery and in the Marines in World War I and works for Union Pacific at Tacoma. They reside at 4716 South Warner Street South Tacoma with many Payette friends sending congratulations.
The FMA Theatre announces a busy slate from February 15 to March 1 featuring Amna Q Nelson in Why Girls Leave Home, the all star Sisters with Buster Keaton in Hard Luck, The Power of a Lie, Leather Pushers, Booth Tarkington's The Flire, and Wesley Barry in Rags to Riches plus a home town dance and news and comedy segments at The Emma.
Frank Tolley was arrested by Sheriff Jefferson at the old Prestel mill office on a moonshine whiskey charge. He waived a preliminary hearing, confessed, and will plead guilty before the District Judge. St James Episcopal Church lists services for Feb 12 1923 with Children’s Eucharist and Morning Prayer.
Claud Hurd and Fred Stanton attended Boise Priday at the Baptist church convention. A daughter was born Sunday February 4. L. E. Nuzman of Boise visited Payette last week. Howard Coates welcomed a new girl born Sunday morning February 11 at their Payette home. Spring shoe display at Golden Rule with new Bethue. Local civic and social events include bridge at Mrs. Jack Whalen, eye doctor visit by Dr. M D Fleming on Feb 20, and hospital news from Ontario. Town news covers fashion trims, hats, and upcoming May Day activities. Groundhog weather quip and local business ads noted.
Theodore Peterson of this city faces two serious charges in the Tisirice Court. He was arrested last Sunday evening at the Commercial Hotel with a woman for allegedly moonshine. A preliminary examination for adultery and a separate hearing for selling intoxicating liquor led to bonds set and Peterson bound over for trial in the District Court. The unnamed woman also faces adultery charges and is held in custody.
The Boise Statesman reports a new method at the Blanchard Home in this city adopted by Mrs Felthouse and residents. The method aims to improve care with cautious timing of a youngster arrival and is hoped to yield a prosperous year if successful. Hats of unusual beauty noted from Gan Pranckee Belle furs residence.
