Caldwell reports Mayor Coughanour of Payette will join Governor-elect Hawley's staff at colonel rank. The Boise visit revealed the appointment, with other civic notes and upcoming church and Y M C A events in Caldwell.
Faculty members led by President Black attended the Idaho State Teachers’ Association annual meet in Boise. The Lewiston Normal faculty listed included E. S. Wooster Miss Franc Chseberlain and Miss Clara Kaps with varied presentations and talks on education and European history.
The poster notes a forenoon service with Har ve The Musical Interpretation and a 6 30 p m reverent service with augmented choir. Sunday school at 10 am and public invited to all services. Browe travels to New York and England for business, Ackerman visits from New Plymouth. Slaughter sale by Mrs Comptone features trimmed hats from $3 to $1 00 in proceeds after beavers priced down.
Beginning Monday November 28 the new time card went into effect on the Payette Valley railroad with four trains a day. Train No 1 runs from Payette to Emmett via Fruitland New Plymouth Falke Store Letha arriving Emmett at 8 30 am. Train No 2 leaves Emmett at 9 15 am passing Letha Falks Store New Plymouth Fruitland and arrives Payette at 10 45 am. Train No 3 leaves Fayette at 2 00 pm via Fruitland New Plymouth Falks Store and arrives Emmett at 4 20 pm. Train No 4 departs Emmett at 4 40 pm via Lethe Parks Store New Plymouth Fruitland arriving Payette 6 10 pm. No agent at Falken Store and Letha so freight prepaid. Connections with OQ 5 L R RB at Payette and Idaho Northern at Emmett. Travelers urged to note timetable.
The Payette Planing Mill, owned by J. P. Walker and Sons, was sold to C. J. Pratt from Owyhee Oregon. Pratt took possession at the start of December with Daniel Looney remaining with the new owner as part of the mill.
Payette High School students returned from Thanksgiving break ready for study. Activities included a basketball doubleheader against the Y M C A with wins for the high school girls 27 7 and boys 20 18 and a chicken pie supper to aid the athletic fund. Also reported were marriage news, staff changes, glee club practice, and a state football result in Welser with Pocatello winning 5 0.
H. E. B. Robinson and family moved to Fruitland and rented a store building from A. Zellar. He plans an up to date stock of hardware and farming implements and has bought 20 acres south of Brainard addition to plant to fruit trees. Local notes mention travel and community business, with various residents and events.
Miss Caroline Johnson has accepted a position with the Commercial and will oversee work at the Rex spray plant. B. Long traveled from Ontario to Boise on business. Mr. and Mrs. A RK Van Buren of Ontario visited the city. W. Alnoy attended a Caldwell school trustees meeting. Walter Jones joined Br. Teapo Jeweler in Weert. J. Hi. Welder and Mrs Whitney returned from a week in the capital. Stanton and Fred look to relocate. Wm. A. Lesh returned from Councy Bluffs praising Payette valley exhibit. Velma Pratt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs C E K Pratt, celebrated her fifth birthday with friends and teachers, including games and refreshments.
Silas Carter sold 20 acres two and a half miles north of the city to Thomas Ashworth. 22 acres of orchard land with no buildings, at $600 per acre. E T Bowman reports buying 40 acres of Hawking ranch east of the home place. Numerous small items: deaths, travel notes, club meetings, obituaries, and real estate updates involving local residents and businesses in Payette Idaho.
