Prune crop begins with full harvests planned this week

Payette packing houses prepare for a heavy prune harvest as crews gather fruit in Fruitland and Payette. Dentey & Company, Payette Valley Fruit Packing Association, and Nic Broderson expect steady car load shipments to eastern markets while new forces ramp up in late week. Local growers report excellent quality and strong market optimism for the coming season.

Payette Mutual Telephone Company Organized at Large Meeting

Payette hosts a large turnout of 311 stock subscribers as the Payette Mutual Telephone Company Ltd is formed with a 100000 capital and a nine member board. By-laws similar to Fruitland Farmers Mutual adopted. Annual meetings set for January second Monday at 10 AM. Baby narrowly escapes drowning near Falks Store

Last Sunday evening the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bartleton nearly drowned near an irrigating lateral at Falks Store. After twenty minutes of artificial respiration, life signs returned and the child was revived. Dr Woodwat was notified and rushed to Fall with the child, who was reported to be getting along nicely.

Miss Anderson of The Vogue Millinery invites patrons to a fashion event in Payette Idaho featuring a complete ring of latest street and pattern styles on Saturday September 4. A horse accident occurred nearby when H J Hull of Yale was driving to a wagon. the horse broke a foot and had to be shot. General Manager Dunn of the Payette Valley Railroad arranged a replacement animal and settlement with Hull.

Canyon County Annual Fair Promises Bigger Event Yet

Canyon County plans for the annual fair promise a bigger and better exhibit with Liberal premiums across departments. The speed program features futurity races, trots and paces for three year olds and under, and the Canyon County derby. A large warehouse contract was let near Payette Milling Company property. The German Lutheran Ladies Aid to hold a bazaar on September 2 in Thurstan Crighton building with extensive preparations and invitations to attend.

Snake River Bridge bids opened with thirteen bids received

The Snake River Bridge Commission opened thirteen bids for a bridge across the Snake River north of the city. Bid amounts ranged from about 23,444 to 34,440 with steel joist options discussed to increase durability and reduce long term repairs. The commission postponed action until next Saturday to review all bids and potential specification changes.
