Prunes Moving at Fair Price Across Idaho Valley

The prune harvest will open soon and, according to approved distributors in the Idaho Prune Growers Association district, prices are satisfactory with several hundred cars sold at association prices. Quoted prices include 50 cents for Standard suitcase, 85 cents for 24 pound baskets, and half bushel baskets. Independent underquoting briefly slowed sales, but orders recovered once it was shown those sellers did not control prunes. The valley crop is strong with heavy June drop and some regions reporting better-than-usual quality, picking starting the first of next week and general picking around September first.
