The Payette and Payette Oregon slope picnic at New Plymouth drew a larger crowd than expected despite morning clouds. Activities included a Payette band, vaudeville, a red cross fundraiser by Gard Wood, and an exciting auto race. Proceeds neared $700, to be donated to the Red Cross. The event judged a success with plans to recur next year under E. Equals as chairman and a full executive slate listed.

Death of Ethel Giesler Parsons in Payette Idaho
The community mourns the death of Ethel Giesler Parsons age 22. She was born September 22, 1895 in Payette Idaho and died August 10 1918 at her home on Sixth street Payette. A Payette High School graduate 1914 she served as deputy recorder in Caldwell from 1915 to 1918. She married G B Parsons August 4 1917 and moved back to Payette recently. Funeral services were held at the home and interment at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Burton of Fruitland presiding. She leaves a husband, her parents Mr and Mrs J C Giesler, six sisters and one brother.

Infant dies after Portland visit and Payette arrival
Miss Fern Fulton brought the infant from Portland to Payette for treatment after a mother from Salt Lake, Mrs Mae, left the child born in a Portland hospital. The depot waiting room death was deemed natural by doctors and the county bore burial costs, with reimbursement expected when the mother arrives.

Car Overturn Near Midvale In Slippery Grade
Last Monday Vet Gor ham, driving seven companions toward Midvale, struck a slippery grade three miles from Midvale, turning the big car onto its side. The four men in the cab, aided by a saddle horse and rope to the horn, righted the vehicle and resumed their journey with no injuries or damage beyond the incident.
