Payette Commercial Club endorses fair plan and water project

The Payette Commercial Club endorsed the plan by the Payette Driving Club to organize a fair association with stock at 15 per share to fund horticultural and art exhibits. They appointed committees to sell stock and organize a fall fair and approved a monster demonstration for the Fayette Heights ditch water turning in six weeks. The group also supported a planned upper hillside drive and tree planting with a committee to manage improvements.

Death of James Will Colley in Payette area

James Will Colley died last Sunday morning April 1 about three o'clock near his father’s residence south of Payette. He was twenty one years old and survived by his father, a sister, three brothers and a half-brother. He was a member of local churches and his funeral services were held at the Merindiat-church with Rev. Day officiating. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were named. the community extended sympathy to the family.

Masters Original townsite sidewalk plan and city upgrades

City council met with all members present and appointed W. C. Sturdevant as Deputy City Engineer. They approved nine foot sidewalks on multiple blocks, ordered two horse scraper, and instructed removal of slot machines. A city scale, weigh master, and improved bookkeeping system were authorized, with a special session to address the west side sewer district protests.

Prominent Man Visits Payette Valley

Judge Garlowe of Onabie Keolpaint and soil expert for the Cudahy Packing Co visited Payette Valley last Friday and Saturday. He toured the valley seeking orchard land investments for his company, praised Payette Valley highly, and wrote from Hood River that no other valley compared with Payette.

Rev Thorane Johue visiting Methodist district minister will present a sermon titled Sampson and Dalila at the o MG A. A chess tournament starts Friday at 10 p m with all scores due by then. Capt Burns Captain iteh Lieut Hartung and Serg Rotering attended an inspection of Co B at Weiser on Wednesday evening and enjoyed the military ball. Jas 1 Barry accepts a post with Payette Valley Railroad as chief clerk in General Manager Dunns office, starting next week. Mr and Mrs A B Seale returned from Lake Oregon after a sudden tailed visit prompted by Mrs Wood's condition, which has improved to the point of recovery.

Death of W. W. Foss in Payette Valley

W W Foss longtime Payette Valley resident died at his home five miles east of the city at six o'clock Tuesday morning after a nine day illness from spotted fever. He was known in the community and a member of Sherman Post. Funeral services were held at his home at one o'clock led by Rev Frank Forbes with interment at Riverside cemetery by Sherman Post members.
