Rate Board Ouster Upheld by Court

The Georgia Supreme Court ruled Governor Talmadge acted within his powers in suspending five Public Service Commission members and appointing new ones. The decision declared removal a political executive act not subject to court review and held suspensions did not violate constitutional property rights. Ousted chairman Perry and commissioners McDonald Woodruff Felton Knight were replaced by Wilhoit as chairman and Daniel Huiet Goode and Davis.

Railway Bill Proposes Odd Crossing Rules And Fines

A recent state legislative bill would assign a day bell and night lantern bearer to lead trains at grade crossings and require conductors to smile when questioned. It would make serving eggs over a day old on Pullman cars a misdemeanor, compel trains to stop if flagged by hitchhikers, and require river crossings over twenty five feet to have boats and life preservers aboard. The bill did not pass.
