Sunshine Club Hosts October Meeting Recap
Mrs. Amy Christie hosted the Sunshine Club on Thursday October 13 with fifteen attendees one visitor and six children. Mrs. Cordia Lake led contests and games as baskets were emptied and refreshments served before planning November gathering with Mrs. Lucy Robertson. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Brummer attended a funeral for a former neighbor Charley Henderson at Pana Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Christie visited their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Warren A. Lake in their new home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Arnold of Decatur were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond D. Caudle. Mr. and Mrs. Fred DuCharme of Kankakee and Mr. and Mrs. Eric Reynolds of Seattle visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dwyer. Sunday evening visitors at Mrs. Mattie Linton’s home included Mr. and Mrs. George Christie and B. F. Linton. Mrs. Etta Anderson’s condition is slightly improved after weeks of bronchitis.

Special Election notice for Community Unit School District 100

Minor Smoke Fire at Patoka Elevator Sparsely Damaged
Reports say Tuesday afternoon a smoky incident at the Patoka Elevator produced little flame while P. K. Quayle shared a cigarette with a tar barrel between two company buildings. The Patoka Volunteer Fire Department arrived quickly and damage was slight.

Vernon Better Neighbors Club Meeting Notes
The Vernon Better Neighbors Club met at Anna Des Ruisseaux's home on October 12 with thirteen members present. Vice President Marie Hathaway led the business session, a $1.31 collection was taken leaving $14.57 on hand, prizes went to Fern Gehrken and Flo Morgan, and cookies and coffee were served. The next meeting is an all-day gathering at Goldie Seats’ home on November 9.
