Miss Marilyn Dooley returns from Chicago after six months. Several visitors travel to Cerro Gordo Decatur and Springfield for family visits. Weekend basketball games draw large crowds in Centralia. Jubilee Gospel Singers Thrill Mound Chapel in Flora Family Night

Sunday School attendance last Sunday reached sixty four with birthday wishes for George Christie and Lora Torrence. The Jubilee Gospel Singers from Flora Illinois filled the church Sunday night with six Vaughn family members on accordion saxophone trombone cornet bass violin and piano. Jimmy Vaughn ten years old sang solos and joined the male trio and cornet. Rev R E Willis led prayers preached a brief sermon and introduced the singers. A traditional hand shaking finale followed as Howard Kinney accompanied on piano. Next Sundays devotional will be led by the church Mens Group.

Vernon Good Will Club News

Vernon Good Will Club met March 2 with Marguerite Murfin and ten membres present plus three visitors Pearl Caudle Louise Curran and Ruth Murfin. Members quilted for Marguerite then shared a noon dinner and prayers. Fifteen get well cards were sent in February. Prizes went to Alice Wilson Ferne Gehrken Ruth Murfin Louise Curran and Mary Kottmeyer. Next meeting to be with Toni Sorrel March 16.

Blood Bank Committee Well Coordinated For Service This Afternoon

The Blood Banks Committee arranged to avoid delays at Salem Junior High School gym Friday afternoon. The Bloodmobile runs 12 noon to 6 pm with four typists and writers, nurses, doctors and technicians on hand to assist donors. Sponsored by the Salem Bar Association, the drive urges Marion County residents to donate blood and notes it can benefit both patients and their communities.

School Menu For Next Week In Vandalia

The March 14 to 18 menu includes Roast Beef and Gravy on Monday with mashed potatoes pickled beets apple pie and milk. Tuesday features Meat Pie buttered carrots bean salad banana cream pudding and milk. Wednesday serves Hamburger on bun potato salad applesauce and cake. Thursday offers Chili with crackers ham salad sandwiches and cherry pudding. Friday presents Salmon Loaf buttered potatoes green beans peaches and hot rolls. Mr Warren Besing and Mrs Besing with School District 100 Band members and their director attended the Methodist Fellowship supper on March 9 in the church basement. A pot luck meal for about eighty people was served and guests were introduced for an evening of socializing.

Sunbeam Notes at Baptist Church Meeting

Rose Mary Britt led the Sunbeams in the absence of the president at the Baptist Church Saturday March 5. Parkas made by the girls auxiliary were given to the children. The event featured a home mission motif with crowns, a colored doll and an Indian doll as table decor. Don Padberg shared pictures while Emil Nattier helped serve cookies and Kool Aid. Balloons were favors. Next meeting March 19 will elect officers.

District 100 Band Plans Public Concert Tuesday Evening

District 100 School Band under Mr. Warren Besing will present a program at the High School Tuesday evening March 15 at 7 30. The concert gives members a chance to perform before the Music Contest at Salem. Admission is free and all are invited.
