A serious two car crash near Shobonier Illinois involved Verne Davidson William Grey and the Frisby vehicle carrying Mr and Mrs Frisby. Mrs Frisby suffered severe facial injuries and was hospitalized in Vandalia with shock and wounds.

Eaglin Workers Fourth Meeting Recaps June Session

The Eaglin Workers held their fourth meeting on June 22. Vice president Miss Nellie Fern Belcher presided in Miss Margaret Jett absence. Miss Wilma Thalman read minutes and led roll call. Hazel Belcher demonstrated sewing on buttons. Colleen Petrea played a piano solo. Members filled books and worked on dresses before Hazel Belcher led games. Peggy Tacke reported.

Sohio Buys Illinois Pipe Line Gathering System

Sohio Corporation purchases the Illinois Pipe Line Company gathering system in the Patoka district Marion County Illinois effective July 1 1939. Ship Corporation continues to buy and receive oil from connected wells at Sohio posted field price matching the June 30 1938 Ohio Oil Company rate. New owners project up to 40 barrels daily from Patoka wells to spur further exploration.

Mrs Josie Vallow visited Clinton with her son and returned home Saturday accompanied by the couple. Mrs Jennie Smith celebrated her eighty six birthday on June 29 with dinner guests. Mrs Agnes Beery died at Cerro Gorda after living here with her son. Funeral plans set for Friday. Patoka Elevator loaded its first wheat car this week under S C line. Several local families visited St Louis Forrest Park. Residents traveled to Kentucky oil fields for business. D J Evans of Kalamazoo arrived for a visit.
