Paul Troyer Promoted to Cover 48 States in Rail Inspection

Paul Troyer, son of Mrs. Lula Troyer, has been transferred from the Minneapolis office to the Chicago office of the Western Division Railroad Inspection. In the promotion he becomes traveling supervisor for the entire company, which handles inspection of damaged merchandise in transit and settles claims for insurers. Mr. and Mrs. Troyer will reside in Chicago.

Funeral Services Held for William L Perrine at Christian Church

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 pm from the Christian Church for William Lawrence Perrine 70 who died Thursday morning in St Marys hospital Centralia. He was born in Melrose Illinois and lived in Patoka area 44 years. Survived by wife Bessie Gerrish two sons Luther E Perrine and Howard C Perrine a daughter Arlene Bopp two sisters a brother nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial was in Harrison cemetery Cox and Martin in charge.

Rialto Junior High Names Boy of the Year

John Jennings son of Mr and Mrs F D Jennings and grandson of Mr and Mrs John A Jennings received Rialto California Junior High School Outstanding Boy of the Year honor. He was chosen from more than 500 pupils and the award was presented by Jacob Van Vliet of the American Legion in the school auditorium.

Cox and Martin Funeral Homes of Patoka and Sandoval introduce a two tone gray funeral car on a Oldsmobile Rocket 88 chassis with a Comet Coach body. The vehicle features oxygen tanks two rear seats a removable beacon lights and automatic bed lowering for patient transfers.

Shelter House to Be Built Soon at Lake by the Club

Conservation Club members spent part of Monday cleaning the lakesite and filling in the picnic area. The shelter building, delayed for some time, is expected to begin soon with plans for a big fish fry after completion. State guidance on lake treatment with chemicals arrived. Insect spraying around the lake is planned this week to improve picnicking and fishing comfort.

Books Donated to Library by Mrs Curtis

The Library Board and Librarian thank Mrs. Mabel Snyder of Vernon for delivering two large boxes of books to the library. Most volumes belonged to Mrs Maude Curtis, who wished to donate them through her sister. Mrs Curtis now resides at the Methodist Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois, and will learn of the gratitude via the Patoka Register.

Sunbeams No 2 held a meeting at the Baptist church led by Mrs. Carl Rogier with Sherry Thompson calling the session to order. Pledges to flags and Bible were given and a missionary study about an Italian family was discussed. Refreshments of kolache and cookies were served. Vernon Couple Marries In Patoka Church Ceremony

In Patoka, Miss Jewell Cooley and Dick Davis wed in an afternoon ceremony at the Baptist church on Sunday June 10. The Rev. George Davis officiated with a floral altar, father’s blessing, and a wedding party including Patri ia Taylor as bridesmaid and George Lee Nattier as best man. The couple reside in Patoka and will live with the groom’s parents. Also, Don Bernius and Jonell Kell were married June 16 at Mount Moriah Church in Vernon with plans for a later reception.

Robert Jones Awarded 25 Silver Dollars in Patoka

Robert Jones of Patoka won 25 silver dollars in a Saturday awards event held by Irvin Lumber Co at Patoka with several locals present to claim $10 and $5 prizes. Master of ceremonies Bob Eagan led the proceedings as the First State Bank building hosted the next awards at 3 p.m. After the event Vacation Bible School began and local families gathered for community activities.

Local Barber Spots Doe While Tractor Work East of Patoka

L P Dauderman a Patoka barber found a deer on his farm about six miles east of town Monday morning. He was driving his tractor when a doe rose from a wooded area and appeared the size of a Jersey heifer. The animal had wandered from a Boulder vicinity herd and followed the creek to his fields.

Panther 4-H Club Meets With Dennis Feather

The Patoka Panthers 4-H Club met June 18 at Dennis Feather home with 19 members and four visitors. They planned projects for the July 14 Sa lem 4-H Fair and heard talks on Better Loading Equipment to Prevent Bruises and Losses of Livestock and Brucellosis in Swine. The next meeting is July 16 at 8 p m, Myrna Sue Nattier's home.

Pre-School Sunbeams Elects New Officers at Baptist Church

The Sunbeams met at the Baptist church Saturday afternoon June 16. Mrs. Mojonnier installed officers in a candle light service. Linda and Cindy Souter were received as new members. The next meeting is three weeks away on July 7 with Mrs. Emily Ballance hosting the nibble night and July 21 with Mrs. Alvin Perkins.
