Paul Troyer Promoted to Cover 48 States in Rail Inspection
Paul Troyer, son of Mrs. Lula Troyer, has been transferred from the Minneapolis office to the Chicago office of the Western Division Railroad Inspection. In the promotion he becomes traveling supervisor for the entire company, which handles inspection of damaged merchandise in transit and settles claims for insurers. Mr. and Mrs. Troyer will reside in Chicago.

Funeral Services Held for William L Perrine at Christian Church
Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 pm from the Christian Church for William Lawrence Perrine 70 who died Thursday morning in St Marys hospital Centralia. He was born in Melrose Illinois and lived in Patoka area 44 years. Survived by wife Bessie Gerrish two sons Luther E Perrine and Howard C Perrine a daughter Arlene Bopp two sisters a brother nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial was in Harrison cemetery Cox and Martin in charge.

Shelter House to Be Built Soon at Lake by the Club
Conservation Club members spent part of Monday cleaning the lakesite and filling in the picnic area. The shelter building, delayed for some time, is expected to begin soon with plans for a big fish fry after completion. State guidance on lake treatment with chemicals arrived. Insect spraying around the lake is planned this week to improve picnicking and fishing comfort.

In Patoka, Miss Jewell Cooley and Dick Davis wed in an afternoon ceremony at the Baptist church on Sunday June 10. The Rev. George Davis officiated with a floral altar, father’s blessing, and a wedding party including Patri ia Taylor as bridesmaid and George Lee Nattier as best man. The couple reside in Patoka and will live with the groom’s parents. Also, Don Bernius and Jonell Kell were married June 16 at Mount Moriah Church in Vernon with plans for a later reception.

Robert Jones of Patoka won 25 silver dollars in a Saturday awards event held by Irvin Lumber Co at Patoka with several locals present to claim $10 and $5 prizes. Master of ceremonies Bob Eagan led the proceedings as the First State Bank building hosted the next awards at 3 p.m. After the event Vacation Bible School began and local families gathered for community activities.

L P Dauderman a Patoka barber found a deer on his farm about six miles east of town Monday morning. He was driving his tractor when a doe rose from a wooded area and appeared the size of a Jersey heifer. The animal had wandered from a Boulder vicinity herd and followed the creek to his fields.
