Bear Creek W M S Meets at Bear Creek Church

Bear Creek W M S met with Mrs. Marrie Henson on February 18. four members attended due to sickness and bad roads. Mrs. Hazel Brown led a reading and discussion. others present were Mrs. Lucy Robertson Mrs. Amy Christie and the hostess. Next meeting will be with Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Anderson as leader. Also notes of a Bear Creek Church Thursday night meeting and Sunday School discussion. Emmett Caudle attended his parents Golden Wedding in Beloit Wisconsin last Friday.

Methodist Fellowship Meeting at Church on Wednesday

A large group of Methodists gathered in the church basement for the weekly Fellowship meeting. Hosts Mrs. Bill Boys Mrs. Lee Crawford and Miss Bettie Simcox organized a generous pot luck supper. James Ballance and Mrs. W. M. Cox led the lively evening entertainment with Rev. Spurgeon delivering the Grace prayer.

National 4-H Club Week Observed Across Marion County

National 4-H Club Week runs March 1 to 7 with a banquet in Centralia honoring the 1947 Marion County 4-H Club Honor Members and leaders. Save and Sew and Outdoor Meals plan a drive for new members and a church gathering on Sunday March 7. Local leaders Mrs. Bruce Pugh and Wilma attend Patoka school to enroll members for 1948. eligibility spans ages 10 to 21 by July 1.

Sunbeams Easter Party Hosted by Mrs Mojonnier

Red Cross Drive Opens March 1 in Patoka

Mrs. John Jennings is again chairman of the 1948 Red Cross Drive for Patoka with a $175 quota. The first week of March is set aside for the drive and residents will be asked to contribute to the worthwhile cause. Committee.

The PTA funded over ninety five dollars for first and second grade library books including Make Way for Ducklings and Smoky. New picture shows educated the grades. Sue Shively visited Centralia. Mobile X Ray Unit Schedule in Marion County Details

The Mobile X-Ray Unit Survey begins March 9 in Vernon and visits Patoka Sandoval Odin and other towns through March 19. Sponsored by county health and tuberculosis groups the program offers free chest x rays for adults and high school students with positive tests, with no children under high school age x rayed. The unit, first seen February 26 1945 in Patoka, now has capacity about 700 daily.
