School Board approves two more busses for District 100
At a recent Pa toga school board meeting, two additional school busses were approved for District 100 to run on the Patoka and Vernon routes. Frank Euston of Patoka and Cecil Binnion of Vernon have ordered buses for their routes. Service will begin as soon as delivery occurs to allow earlier pickups and reduced waiting.

Patoka Lions Club Bi Month Banquet At Masonic Hall
Fifteen Patoka Lions met Tuesday at the Masonic Social room for a bi monthly banquet hosted by Eastern Star ladies. Special guest W R Hancock of Salem entertained with an educational travel film. President Edgar Irvin led the business meeting scheduling December 21 as Ladies Night with Boy Scouts as guests. Lions Les Jenkins and Harold Foltz were appointed to plan entertainment. Tail-twister Marcus Cox staged humorous trials with the money jar and later presented a live Billy Goat as part of a fundraising joke, with the goat to be delivered to the next member absent from the meeting.

Good Will Club News Seeks Christmas Exchange
The Good Will Club met at Betty Howell's with thirteen members and three visitors. A noon prayer and a dinner were shared, with Tona Sorrel and Mrs Kenneth Meador assisting. They decided to send money to the Christmas Neighbor Club and worked on carpet rags and quilt joinings. Guests Sylvia Binnion and Anibell Lenigar attended. The next meeting is the Christmas Exchange at Mary Kottemeyer's on December 15.

The December meeting of the Methodist Aid drew a large attendance on December 2. President Mrs. S. M. Spurgeon led the session with devotions by Mrs. Rita Hill. A Christmas tree in the basement held gifts for all as entertainment proceeded. Hostesses arranged tables with decorations and served tiered jello cakes tree shaped cakes and coffee.

Mrs Frances Gray 85 dies in Bridgeport Ill
Mrs Frances Elizabeth Gray aged 85 who lived in Patoka most of life died Thursday morning December 9 at the home of her daughter Mrs Smith Dalrymple in Bridgeport Illinois after months of ill health. She and husband Oliver ran the Patoka Hotel for years. Surviving daughters are Mrs Charles Purvis Odin and Mrs Dalrymple. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday December 11 at Cox Martin Funeral Home Patoka, burial Patoka Cemetery.
