Vernon 1.0.0.F. Lodge No. 324 hosted about one hundred District members on August 3 in the local hall. The Centralia Degree Staff presented an initiatory degree for four candidates Herschel Lawrence Myron A Cooley Cecil Hollingsend and Clarence Guyman. Reinstatements included John Gehrken Floyd Arnold Frank Lake Frank Robertson and Luther M Brown. Rebekahs served ice cream cake and coffee. At the August 3 meeting the Village Board voted to prohibit dancing and commercialization of ball games on Sundays in Patoka city park and ban hunting there. Permissions to use the park must be obtained from the Village Clerk. The board also discussed a water exploration project and moved a test hole from the new high school site to the James Wernsman farm for further testing.
