A blast from an oil stove in West Frankfort destroyed the U S Berthoux residence early Monday. The house burned completely with no usable furniture saved. Berthoux, in Patoka, carried insurance on the furniture but did not transfer the policy to West Frankfort.

Bright Lights Cause Accident in Bloomington Drive
Mrs. Preston Long of Bloomington suffered facial and head cuts when the car carrying her husband and children left the road near the Wagner Filling Station south of Patoka. The driver was blinded by a bright light from another vehicle. The family, returning from Kentucky, continued home after treatment.
