Examinations Open for Maritimers

Young men seeking careers in the American Merchant Marine may take an entrance exam at California Maritime Academy Vallejo on March 2 at 9 a.m. No fees or appointments required. Williams to Exhibit at Los Angeles Abrasives Clinic

Chester L Williams of Arcadia will participate in a Los Angeles clinic on February 28 and March 1 at the Great Western Exhibit Center Commerce California. He will demonstrate new abrasive machinery and methods for durable goods alongside six machinery makers and 3M’s coated abrasives division. Williams explains copid abrasives as sandpaper though much sandpaper contains no sand. shown will be heavy duty abrasive belts and a 50 inch wide fast moving belt with mineral particles, plus a diamond coated belt for ceramics.

Artists Show at El Monte Art Guild Opens March Evenings

The El Monte Art Guild will host an open show for all artists in oils and mixed media at 11109 Valley Blvd. from 7:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday March 5 and 2:00 to 7:39 PM Wednesday March 6. Arcadia Hospital outlines 14 million expansion plan

City council heard Arcadia Methodist Hospital outline a 14 million, phased expansion on Muntington Drive. Neptune Thomas architects near completion of drawings for a 50 bed extended care unit and psychiatric center additions. Administrator Koefflin said bids will be sought soon as the project fits the master plan for the 22 acre site next to City Hall.

Adela Bitter Final Rites Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Adela Evelyn Bitter of 6275 N. Sultane Temple City were held on Tuesday Feb 20 at Memorial Chapel Rose Hills Memorial Park with Rev Harry Wildeson officiating.
