Congressman Charles M Teague of the 13th District which includes Ventura and Santa Barbara counties continues his practice of sending newsletters and questionnaires to constituents. He funds this from his congressional salary and has them printed through the House Folding Room.
Republican congressman Teague mailed 190000 questionnaires to his district using free franking. A tenth question listed 12 presidential candidates prompting Post Office scrutiny and a demand for $5462.50 in postage. Teague paid $5402.50 and urged clearer franking rules to curb campaign material in newsletters and questionnaires.
A Pasadenan father and son travel with St Pauls Cathedral Choir on a three week England tour. Robert D Winter and Bob Jr perform as soprano and adult tenor within the 30 plus member choir. They sing at St Pauls Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral and visit Exeter Stratford Lincoln and Oxford area before returning Aug 15. Bob Sr. works as a Paris-based telephone communications consultant in Alhambra.
The Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission officials told Altadena's new advisory panel that its role remains advisory and temporary. Graduation ceremonies were held Friday for 73 law enforcement officers. Sheriff Peter J. Pitches officiated at the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room in Los Angeles. The class included 62 from the Sheriff’s department and 11 from Lynwood Torrance El Segundo Downey Gardena and the U S Marine Corps. Eight female deputies trained with men. Cadets completed 800 hours of instruction plus 37 hours on human relations.
