Stevenson wins California for Democratic nomination bid

Adlai E. Stevenson swept California with about 62 percent of the vote to clinch the Democratic convention votes and threaten Estes Kefauver. Richard Richards and Sen Kuchel lead in the Senate race, Richards ahead by 95 votes in California where he is a Los Angeles state senator vying for the Democratic nomination.

Gas Stove Blast Injures Tenant in 34-Unit LA Building

A gas stove explosion at 630 S Alvarado, Los Angeles, seriously burned a 42 year old tenant in a 34 unit apartment building. Robert Espey suffered second and third degree burns on arms hands face and head and was taken to Georgia Street Receiving Hospital.
