The fifth annual How to Study and Stay in College course, led by Dr. Fred Seero and Purdue affiliates, starts July at Foothill Branch Pasadena. It targets high school seniors transitioning to college, covering listening skills, note taking, college vocabulary, study methods, writing, exam prep, and creating a study schedule.
The annual June breakfast sponsored by the Faculty Senate discusses problems of adjustment and academic assistance. It will be held Friday at 8 20 a.m. at the Campus Center. Registration begins with applications via call to Chuck Up, YMCA, Foothill Branch, ext 24.
Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association will honor Dr Aria Dan Haagen-Smit with the Citizens Award at a June 23 breakfast. Prof James N Pit Jr of UC Riverside will speak on air pollution and California’s slow destruction. Haagen-Smit, Caltech chemist, active in pollution work for 20 years, holds many awards and serves on federal and state panels.
