Funeral services for Lloyd Augustus Hall a renowned consulting chemist from Altadena will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Woods-Valentine Mortuary Pasadena. Born June 29 1894 in Elgin Illinois he earned many degrees and patents and held leadership roles in numerous organizations. Survived by widow Myrrhene a daughter Dorothy Powell a son Kenneth Hall and two grandchildren. Interment at Forest Lawn Glendale.
The Alhambra Board of Education voted at Monday night’s meeting to raise the district deductible for fire insurance from 250 to 10,000, a move requested by the insurer and to be approved by the state Board of Education as routine. The board also approved a pilot cosmetology program with Beauly College International of Pasadena, allowing four district high schools to send 20 students for 240 hours toward licensing, with the plan covering textbooks uniforms and a 2 licensing fee, and potential expansion funded by state income.
Pasadena residents earned praise as a city with a heart for the Tournament of Roses parade. About 28 volunteers assisted the elderly and infirm, including 1 wheelchair viewer, 4 in folding chairs, 12 disabled youths, and 134 nurses and companions, with support from police, sheriff, and Civil Air Patrol volunteers serving refreshments.

Pasadena voters see 23 registered voter signatures plus $25 filing by Friday. In Pasadena a new Superior Court building hosts judges and four courtrooms in the old structure while the press room remains unfinished. Judge Walter R. Evans uses a temporary desk in the district attorney's office as his makeshift chamber. The first cases heard were default divorces with attendees filling the wallflower chairs. Official dedication is set for February 14, with expectations that full courtrooms will be ready soon and the press room will regain its function.
The Pasadena Area League of Women Voters will study The Change in the City in January with Donald L. Pollard at a Women’s City Club lunch. Activities run Jan 18–22 including visits to Pasadena boards and city agencies. Altadena and Sierra Madre units join specific projects.
