PCC trustees approved a $2 million campus construction program to be advertised for bids. The 15 month project covers administration and library buildings and a central air system, with $1.043 million coming from the state and the rest from local funds. The board also discussed a $2.068 million nursing training building at PCC, a two story facility with labs and a self learning program to serve 200 freshmen and 160 sophomore students.
The 164 edition of Kilron yearbook from Citrus College won first place in the Junior College offset magazine category at the 35th annual Columbia University Scholastic Press Association contest. Judges commended design, layout, and content as the yearbook scored high points. Editor Kay Dahbine of Glamnara led the staff with Larry Meadows, Roy Moore, and photographers including Alex Vad Lediwen and F K George assisting. Armin Jcknegn served as faculty advisor.
Three county supervisors Ernest K. Debs Warren M. Down and Burton W. Chace signed a constitutional amendment initiative to shift school and welfare costs from primary taxpayers. The signing occurred in Los Angeles with the County Supervisors Association of California and the California Teachers Association backing the measure. Mayor Sam Yorly reportedly did not attend the ceremony at the Hall of Administration amid online protests.
Pasadena Police Department holds its annual pre Christmas bike disposal auction. About 100 bicycles, plus Paris bikes, will be sold. The sale starts at 4 a.m. at the police station shed, 142 N Arroyo Parkway, and continues until items are sold.
Robbers broke into artist Millard Sheets studio on Foothill Boulevard over the weekend and fled with artwork valued at more than 514,000. Six Pre Columbian figures, valued at 2310 each, were taken along with other objects and office equipment. Deputies say entry was gained through a rail vent. Shoals was in New York at the time.
