Registration now open for Adult Evening Classes starting October 1 at the local college. Courses include three commercial subjects plus academic topics for grades ten through twelve. Each subject runs two evenings weekly, two hours per class for a 30 week period, with a ten-student minimum.
Kelsey School Board met with its architects to review a proposed addition to Opasquai Elementary School. A fall by law would fund an 18 to 26 room expansion with eight rooms subject to Indian Affairs integration approval. Voters may also authorize a Collegiate expansion adding a gym auditorium plus a library, funds to convert the present auditorium.
A 63 year old CNR employee was killed in a train accident at Wabowden last Thursday. A second railway worker is in fair condition at St. Anthony's Hospital The Pas. Dead is Joe Moreau of Camperville Manitoba. In hospital is Steve Uhlair 206 Head Avenue The Pas. He suffers internal chest injuries broken ribs and minor head injuries. Uhlair and Moreau were with an extra gang out of Wabowden. An extra train being made up in the Wabowden Yards struck the extra gang unit. Moreau and Uhlair were in the last trailer and hit by the train. Coroner Neil Macphee opened a coroner's inquest at The Pas Friday morning and adjourned to a later date.
The Manitoba education minister announces revised programs for industrial arts in grades 10 and 1 and oral French for grades 4 to 6. Draft outlines on physical education for grades 7 to 11 and industrial arts for grades 7 to 9 are expected this year as curriculum committees work on revisions for the 204 000 pupils enrolled.
