Transair raises Pas to Winnipeg fare by four ninety

Transair announces a fare increase from The Pas to Winnipeg of 4.90 effective October 1. The Pas customers were not noted in the press release. Other northern Manitoba routes also see higher costs, with Flin Flon reaching 42.00 and Churchill and Lynn Lake lifting to Winnipeg routes, while Gillam and Thompson fares rise as well. Youth fares will drop to 60 percent on October 1.

Frechettes Expand Premises at Halcrow Avenue

Frechettes Dairy in The Pasis is enlarging its Halcrow Avenue site with a 4000 square foot addition. The remodel adds a processing area for the original building and a refrigeration section for its product lines. If on schedule, completion is planned for the last week of September.

Manager Appointed for Swan River Pas Transfer Ltd

Canadian National Transportation Limited has announced the appointment of Fred Acton as general manager of the Swan River The Pas Transfer Limited. He succeeds R R Ramsay who has retired. The firm, based in Winnipeg, operates coast to coast with routes through Winnipeg and Brandon.

Arena Opening Set for October 1st

The Pas arena opens October 1st, a Sunday, with a minor hockey school during Thanksgiving weekend. The Pas Minor Hockey Association organizes the event to prep players for the season. University Co-ordinator Appointed

The Inter-Universities North Liaison Office re opens in The Provincial Building in The Pas with Albert Wm. Pyke succeeding Mark Poudrier. Pyke, a Royal Military College graduate, is completing an MA at the University of Manitoba. Fifteen courses in six communities are tentatively offered and set to start early October.
