NO ELECTION THIS FALL IN THE PAS COUNCIL
Following nominations closed on October 7 there were insufficient candidates for the available Town Council seats in The Pas. Ernie Koch was re elected by acclamation as the sole filer. Councillors Jack Kennedy and Ed Johanson did not file. Johanson had said he would retire this year, Kennedy’s failure to file surprised. A nominating committee must be appointed to submit accepting candidates for the two year term.

Hill's Corner Store Hit by Truck Saturday Night

Pollution conscious pilots help dispose hunters garbage

Be tty Withrow of Winnipeg and her clerk faced repeated harassment by a town official and the licensing inspector while operating a dress shop in The Cambrian Hotel sample room for four days from October 7 to 10. Two Chimney Fires Last Week
The Pas volunteer fire brigade were called out twice last week to smother chimney fires. At 25 Crossley Avenue John Paramazorida arrived home to flames from the chimney at 1 30 AM Thursday with minimal damage. On Sunday night 504 LaRose Avenue Rev Fraser Muldrew faced a chimney fire from a dirty stack with only slight damage.

Court News Cayer Receives Reprimand In Highway Stop Case
Marcisse Cayer was reprimanded in Magistrate Court last Wednesday on four charges of failing to stop upon entering a provincial highway. He pleaded not guilty. Constable Gillett testified that on September 14 Cayer entered Highway 10 from the CFI road at about 20 mph in a 1965 GMC Tandem. there was no yield or stop sign at the corner where an exit curve from No 10 meets the CFI road.

Constant says he would go to Supreme Court over schooling case
Ernie Constant, attendance officer for Kelsey School Division, recalls a September week on The Pas Reserve related to a family search. He recounts a discussion with Ron McBryde about Indian Metis employment rights and a hypothetical plan to withdraw Indian and Metis children from school, leading Constant to say he would take the matter to the Supreme Court. Graduation Exercises Honor Margaret Barbour Class of 1970
