Obituary of Daniel Austin longtime government employee
Daniel Austin died at his home on September 27 after a lengthy illness. Born in 1889 in Fairfield Derbyshire England he moved to Canada in 1906 settling at Port Arthur then The Pas in 1919. He worked 20 years for the Provincial Government and is survived by his wife Ethel and a son Leonard along with five daughters twenty grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Elsie Carr in 1966. Funeral services were held Friday September 30 from Christ Church The Pas.

Sam Young Dies At Flin Flon After Long Community Service
Sam Young died at Flin Flon General Hospital on September 18 at age 88. A longtime Flin Flon resident and former The Pas native, he helped take a junior hockey team to Winnipeg for Memorial Cup play in 1935 and ran an auctioneering business until retirement. He supported Trout and Trappers festivals and served as an honorary Flin Flon Rotary member and a lodge member in A F and A M. He is survived by family members named in the notice.
