Conviction in Oil Pollution Case From International Waters
An Old Bailey prosecution in London secured a conviction of the Huntingdon’s owners and masters for discharging oil, based on Canadian Armed Forces air reconnaissance off Nova Scotia on August 18 1970. The case highlighted cross border cooperation as the vessel was not bound for Canada and the trial occurred in its country of origin. Captain Leif-Erik Wadelius and Captain Ian Stephen Banyard were involved in the airborne evidence.

Early Port Opening Benefits Grain Flow
A. R. Williams of Canadian National says an early opening of navigation at Thunder Bay will help move grain. CN has over 2300 carloads waiting to be unloaded due to full terminal elevators, and opening the port will free cars for loading elsewhere. From Aug 1, 1972 to Feb 1973 CN loaded 123,490 prairie and mountain grain cars, up from 120,517 a year earlier.
