Residents of The Pas and District prepare for a Shmockey Game at The Pas Arena. Admission is 3.75 for adults and lower prices for students and children, with all proceeds donated to The Pas Minor Hockey Association, supporting local youth hockey efforts.
The Pas Golf Club announces its annual meeting on Monday March 28 at 8 00 PM in the Curling Clubrooms. Elections of officers will be held and a general discussion on dues fees and the building fund will occur. The outgoing executive stresses the meeting's importance amid growth plans and urges members to attend and voice views.
The Kelsey School Division and the Manitoba Teachers Society reach a two year pay deal. Elementary teachers gain 300 a year over the term about seven percent on average. Class 1 minimum rises to 3600 and maximum to 5200, with increases across classes 2 and 3. Sixty teachers affected in first three classes.
Mr. Profit's land application was among several handled last week as the town approves a new trailer court project aimed at expanding housing options and attracting business.

City council approved Keller’s plan for seven lots to build a 22 unit apartment block and Beckman’s plan for four lots for a fourplex. Eight year old golden lab Duff belongs to Bill Moffat at 560 Settee Teulon. He joined the household as a pup and was named after a Manitoba news figure from eight years ago. Duff has vanished three times in two years, returning twice before. CONTINUED ON PAGE 3.
In a rink sweep, Flin Flon ladies dominated the four events with trophy winners led by Skip Jean Frechette backed by Maisie Rowe Ellen Hanson and Helen Dempsey. Page 10 features additional photos from the event.
The Pas School for Retarded Children reports progress as twelve students aged seven to twenty study basic academics in a small basement space at Grace Apostolic Church. Funding comes from provincial grants municipal support and local associations, while officials say conditions are inadequate and call for brighter classrooms a gym and more equipment. Teachers Mrs J T Davidson and Mrs W J Sawatzky focus on fundamental numbers colors reading and writing and teach safety words like danger poison and washroom.
The Pas Liberal Association will not field a provincial candidate in the next election. Speculation says Premier Duff Roblin may call an election this year. Local Liberals credit Mr Carroll and cabinet allies for securing a large forest industry deal for The Pas and seek a vote of confidence.
The Pas Progressive Conservative Association will hold a general meeting on Saturday March 26 at 7:30 PM in the Legion Hall. Delegates from Birch River Mafeking Cranberry Portage Duck Bay and Camperville and The Pas will attend. The public is welcome. Membership cards for 1966 will be sold at the door. Hon. George Johnson M D Minister of Education Manitoba will speak. Constituency officers will be elected. Coffee and donuts will be served after.
Roger Carriere, longtime King Trap of The Pas Trappers Festival, joins several sports celebrities at the Regina Optimists Sports men's Dinner on May 12. More than 700 guests attend the Regina event with a $25 plate price. Proceeds benefit Eastern Seals. Guest speaker is Scott Young, noted Canadian sports columnist.
Seven months into building a new $3 million vocational school site shown as a bare area last year. The Provincial and Federal governments fund the project, construction began last July, and the school is slated to open September 1 with staff recruitment already underway.
