Moose Lake Festival Opens With 36 Mile Dog Race

Moose Lake hosts a two day festival March 18 and 19 featuring a 36 mile dog race starting after the Queen’s crowning at 2 a.m. Friday. Other events include freight and junior races, horse and snowshoe races, ice fishing, log sawing, pole climbing, footraces, and two evenings of calling followed by a dance. Prizes for the main race award 150 for first, 100 for second, and 75 for third.

RCMP Reminds on Parking Rules and Towing

The RCMP issued a notice to motorists reminding it is unlawful to leave a motor vehicle parked on a highway including streets or lanes without current registration. Vehicles parked longer than 24 hours or lacking the 1966 tag will be towed at the owner's expense.

TV Delegation Ottawa Bound

Delegates from Swan River north to Churchill will travel to Ottawa on April 26 to plead for live and extended TV coverage for northern Manitoba. The group met at Flin Flon with representatives from Flin Flon The Pas Snow Lake Thompson and Churchill. Attending from The Pas were Mayor Harry Trager and Doug McBride.
