RCMP logged four highway crashes in The Pas Cranberry Portage district from Friday morning to Sunday night. Five people hospitalized, one critical, flown to Winnipeg. George Watts of The Pas, long tied to Cranberry’s Great Northern Hotel, suffered critical injuries after a truck wrecked near Cranberry Portage early Friday.

Worst In 13 Years North Country Burns Described In Manitoba
The region faces its driest spell in 13 years with 29 days without rain. By Monday 16 fires erupted near Snow Lake and Wabowdaen, and five started near Thompson as winds shifted. Two helicopters and two Canso Bombers aided hundreds of firefighters. no rain and difficult evidence hindered RCMP probes into campers blamed for some blazes. The largest fire east of Thompson scorched 40 000 acres, cutting power lines to Thompson and INCO communities.

Centennial meeting set to plan past centennial project
A public meeting is called for Monday June 29 at 7 30 in the council chambers to discuss proposals for a Past Centennial project. RCMP Radar Patrol Nets Ten Speeders On Highway 10

Half A Fish Is Better Than A Missing Fillet
