Barbecue Plans Growing at Carrot Valley Hall Site

Paste Association prepares a Pit Beef Barbecue at Carrot Valley Hall on Saturday July 2 with serving from 5 to 7 PM. Afternoon races and events precede a dance in the evening. Advance ticket sales extended to this Saturday to estimate meat. about 25 ponies and chariots expected for races. Bus service arranged from Town. Kiddies Races prizes from Carling's Brewery. Kinsmen Club to present their trailer during the day’s festivities.

The Pas Gold Club hosts a Saturday 8:00 P.M. bingo in Guy Hall backing Paulette Blouin for Queen Mermaid at the Flin Flon Trout Festival. Winners receive prizes including a 1966 automobile, mink jacket, diamond wristwatch, modeling contract, and other gifts.

Students Offer Their Thanks For On The Job Learning Program

At the start of May a two month Occupational Learning Program enrolled ten students aged fourteen to eighteen. They spent one after another week learning on the job and received enthusiastic help from many people. The students express their gratitude.

Field Day Highlights at Opasquai and Kelsey Schools

Elementary Schools held Field Day events last Friday. Opasquai School grade 8 students led a chain gang with a pet goat and Master Fred Kaita among the teachers wielding a whip. Mary Duncan won the marching contest. Mary Duncan and cheerleaders directed school calls while Kelsey baton twirlers prepared to perform at the Kelsey School Sports Grounds.

Sawmill Project Advances Months Ahead of Plan

A 100 million dollar Churchill Forest Industries Manitoba venture aims to start a sawmill in The Pas a year early, creating 600 jobs. The mayor received a June 10 1966 letter from Dr Oskar Reiser president Monaco A G confirming offices will open in The Pas and foresters will be hired to push early start up.

Winton Pool to Open With Free Swim This Saturday

The Passions Club will open the Winton Swimming Pool this Saturday at 2 PM offering free swimming all day. Regular hours run 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM Monday through Saturday with Sundays closed until a relief lifeguard is engaged. Summer lessons will be announced later and daily rates list 15 cents for children 6 to 12 and reduced rates for students 13 to 15.

Lt Gov Bowles and Mrs Bowles arrive The Pas Friday July 1 aboard the CNR then proceed to Flin Flon for Trout Festival events. They return to The Pas Saturday afternoon, attend a Barbecue supper, and travel to Winnipeg later that night aboard the CNR with family.
