Summer recreation drive boosts town budget
Five University students were sent to The Pas to work for the Kelsey Recreation Commission earning $1,000 each for the summer with transportation, board, and lodging. The government funded the program after the town cut its own recreation budget, saving money for other programs. The piece notes lively youth activities overseen by Shirley Morrison and Carolyn Hill, with Mitzi Beaulieu assisting, and mentions upcoming Bicycle Rodeo Safety Check on July 22 at Keewatin Community College.
